When is Black Friday?

Take last year for example, Amazon decided to beat everyone to the punch by launching its ‘Early Black Friday Deals’ campaign in the last week of October. In recent years, Black Friday has also come to be adjoined by Cyber Monday, a primarily digital-only sale with a focus on tech products.

Which retailers will be involved in Black Friday?

Because of the importance of Black Friday as a revenue generator, you’d be hard pressed to find a major retailer that doesn’t take part in its proceedings. All of the usual suspects get involved including Amazon, Currys PC World, Argos, AO and more.

Black Friday can also be a great time to upgrade your phone contract as the UK’s major networks such as EE and Three, tend to push out their best deals during this period.

What deals are likely to appear?

When it comes to Black Friday deals and the products covered, it’s probably easier to ask which items won’t be included in the sale. Almost every tech product under the sun gets some kind of discount, but if you want to know which deals are more worthy of your attention, then I would easily vouch for higher value items which see some of the biggest price drops during the sale.

SIM-Free mobile phones and phone contracts for instance see huge reductions across the board, so if you time it right with the end of a previous contract then you could stand to save a lot of money. TVs and Sonos speakers also incur significant discounts, meaning that if you want to build the ideal home entertainment set-up for binge-watching Christmas movies then Black Friday is the time to do it.

The only items that can be bested elsewhere are Amazon products, and this is entirely due to Amazon Prime Day. For in-house devices like the Kindle, Fire Tablet, Echo speakers and more, Amazon saves its best deals for Prime Day, so if that’s what you’re after then you’re better holding off until next year.
